Waterford of the Carolinas Real Estate
Waterford of the Carolinas
Located just across the Cape Fear River from Historic Downtown Wilmington one will find a gem called Waterford of the Carolinas.
Waterford was created in 2008 and had sold out its home sites by 2010. It is comprised of 500 total acres that line the Cape Fear River thus affording almost all of the homes a view of the river. And these homes are affordably priced between $250,000 and $700,000. That’s a true bargain!
Waterford is a gated community made up of 19 intimate neighborhoods that line 17 miles of the river’s shore. Each neighborhood is a separated gated community. Somehow, the developers achieved a remarkable feat with the walking trails and street layout. Although each neighborhood is separate, the flow and connection between allows Waterford to be a true socially connected community.
The community boasts an outdoor swimming pool, state of the art fitness center, a canoe and kayak launch site, five tennis courts, pickle ball courts and the above mentioned walking trails.
The beautifully designed homes offer nine foot ceilings, extra-large porches to visit with neighbors, hardwood floors, gourmet kitchens, the yards are maintenance free and most have views of the river if not located on the waterfront.
Sounds cozy, doesn’t it? It is. And yet, within walking or biking distance, one will find a grocery store, a choice of banks, coffee shop, veterinarian, liquor store, pharmacy, restaurants and more.
Living along the river, one may have concerns about flooding. This is a valid concern that the developers had in mind when designing and building the canals in the community. These canals allay fears of flooding by providing drainage in the event of heavy rains.
As mentioned, downtown Historic Wilmington is just across the river as are UNC-W, Cape Fear Community College, the Cotton Exchange and numerous shopping and dining areas. Entertainment such as Thalian Hall, the brand new Cape Fear Arts and Humanities Center, Jungle Rapids, countless parks and sporting venues and more are mere minutes away.
Oh, and let’s not forget the beaches. Wrightsville Beach, Carolina and Kure Beaches are less than 20 minutes away.
