Historic Downtown Wilmington

Wilmington is known as the Port City. Water, over the years, has been the foundation of its defenses, its livelihood, transportation and tourism. It’s not just the Cape Fear River; Wilmington also has Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach and Kure Beach.

All of which figure prominently into the history and livelihood of Wilmington past, present and future. The historic buildings house commercial, retail and dining establishments, the upper levels of many of these businesses also serve as home and the historic homes now serve as offices but most are still private homes.

Many movies and TV shows, such as Ironman 3, have been filmed in and around Wilmington. Besides the Port City, Wilmington is also known as Hollywood East. In fact, one might even get a part as an extra while here.

Boredom? Not something that happens in Historic Wilmington. There is something every weekend and, usually, something happening on any day between Monday and Sunday.
