Airlie Forest Real Estate

Airlie Forest

One of the best known gems in Wilmington has to be Airlie Gardens. And nestled just down the road from the gates to the Gardens is a namesake upscale neighborhood: Airlie Forest.  This is a small neighborhood only one block in length. It stretches From Airlie Road to Wrightsville Avenue. In a somewhat strange twist, the entrance is gated on the Wrightsville Avenue side but not on the Airlie Road side.

The popular and stated brick column to mark an entrance to many of Wilmington’s neighborhoods can be found in Airlie Forest as well. The entrance from Airlie Road is accented by a small pond beside the entrance.

Given the size of the neighborhood, it is safe to say that all the neighbors know one another. So if you are looking for the neighborhood where everyone knows your name, this is it!

Airlie Gardens host a number of events and exhibits throughout each year. One of the benefits of living in Airlie Forest is the ability to walk from home to the Gardens and back and not worry about parking and traffic.

Also close to this location is the Intracoastal Waterway at Bradley Creek. A stone’s throw farther is the drawbridge to Wrightsville Beach, Lumina Station, Bridge Tender’s Restaurant, Dockside Restaurant and Blue Water Restaurant and much more.

Just down Military Cutoff from Airlie Forest is Mayfaire, all the new developments in Ogden and access to Hwy. 17, Interstate 40, and other main thoroughfares in and out of Wilmington.

UNC-Wilmington, Cape Fear Community College, the College of Wilmington, Historic Downtown, Thalian Hall, the Cotton Exchange, the U.S.S. North Carolina and so much more are just minutes away as are the beaches of Pleasure Island.

The homes in Airlie Forest, considering the location, are modestly priced from $599,000 up to $1 million. It is a luxurious neighborhood. It is also an extremely charming neighborhood made up of a mix of styles. The homes are good sized ranging from 2,600 to over 4,000 square feet and were built between 2001 and 2008.
